We had a good weekend in Chicago 🙂 But I’m glad to be home!
I haven’t got my pictures downloaded yet, but I’ve got a handful of photos off my phone to share right now. I’ll post the rest in another entry later on!
We left Thursday night, and we were on a TINY plane! Kevin and Chase were bumping their heads walking down the aisle! I managed to fit all 3 of my costumes (minus Fionna’s backpack) in my carry-on, and it just BARELY fit in the overhead compartment.
We got to Chicago and went to get our rental car, and… Chase’s license had expired on his birthday last month. Oops. So he couldn’t rent the car. We had to call priceline, have them cancel the reservation (luckily they refunded us the money, but it won’t show up for a few days), and then rent a new car under my name.
That took forever to get settled so by the time we got to the hotel we were exhausted. We said hello to Chase’s sister, her husband, Chase’s brother and his friend (who all drove down to meet us in Chicago) and then went to bed!!
Friday morning we got up and walked a few blocks over to eat breakfast. Kevin and I had pancakes bigger than his head. Then we walked back and got dressed for the day. I wore Ms Marvel and Kevin had his new Luke Skywalker on (albeit with the wrong pants; I couldn’t find the brown pants, so he wore his black Jedi pants instead.)
The convention was cool. Loved that almost everything was in one space, and loved the big artist’s alley. I only wore Ms Marvel for a couple of hours before my feet started hurting, so I changed into Fionna for the rest of the day. Fionna was a lot of fun to wear and there were a ton of other Adventure Time characters there, so that was fun.
We left the con around 5 that day and put on normal clothes. We went to eat at Gino’s East for dinner.
It was fun. Then back to the hotel to go to sleep!
Saturday I wore Donna all day, and we just had a quick breakfast in Starbucks in the convention center. We shopped in the exhibit hall all day, ate a horrible overpriced sandwich from the sandwich cart in the con center, and got our picture with Peter Davison.
That night we went and ate at Superdawg, which was good but while we were sitting there realised that there was a bolt in the front tire of our rental car. Chase put some air in it and we hoped it would last til we could get it back to the rental place on Sunday.
I went to sleep early Saturday night and slept for 11 hours! I still felt hung over the next day LOL
Sunday we packed up and just wandered around the con for a few hours before having to leave. We watched a bubble show and saw Natalie Dormer before we headed out.
Luckily we’d left extra early because when we got to the car the tire was flat. The hotel sent a guy down with an air pump and he re-inflated it, and we managed to limp to a Firestone to have them patch the tire.
While they did that we walked to a place to have lunch, and came back to the Firestone where we found out the rental company wouldn’t let them patch the tire, but they put the spare on for free, so that was nice. And luckily the rental company was nice about it too.
We had a long wait for our flight and we were on another tiny plane going back. We got back home around 7, took Kevin home and crashed on the couch.
So anyway tonight I’ll upload the rest of the photos off mine and Chase’s cameras!
Oh! And the McCormick Place had all these kiosks with schedules set up where you could take a picture and email it to yourself. It kept over-writing some of the photos we took and sending old ones, but I did manage to get a few.
